About the Course:

 
Module 1 – Course Introduction

  • This module will provide you with an overview of the course and its intentions. 
  • This module will also provide an outline of the Positive Peace Academy, in addition to familiarising you with the IEP’s history and mission statement. 

 
Module 2 – Understanding Peace

  • This module will provide a brief history of peace and will distinguish between negative and positive peace. 
  • It will also explain the methodologies underpinning the Global Peace Index as a measurement of peace. 

 
Module 3 – The World Today – and to 2050

  • This module will highlight some of the key findings of the latest Global Peace Index and explore their ramifications for the world today. 
  • The Ecological Threat Registry will be explored as the IEP’s latest product, tracking significant threats to peace. 
  • Explore the consequences of the global COVID-19 pandemic on peace now and in the future. 
  • Investigate terrorism as a destabilising force, referring to key findings from the IEP’s Global Terrorism Index. 

 
Module 4 – Religions and Peace

  • This module will be build your understanding of the connection between religion and Peace
  • By the end you’ll be able to challenge some of the erroneous and negative causal assumptions about the relationship between religion and peace.
  • You’ll also develop an understanding of how interreligious cooperation provides a viable platform for promoting and maintaining peace.

 
Module 5 – Peace as a Solution

  • This module explores how Positive Peace is a solution to many of the world’s social and economic problems. 
  • Learn about systems thinking and the eight pillars of Positive Peace. 
  • Uncover the complicated relationship between Positive Peace and the global COVID-19 pandemic, investigating how the pandemic has impacted the 8 Pillars of Positive Peace and discover possible paths to recovery. 
  • Discover how the IEP has committed to assisting in the peacebuilding process through Positive Peace Workshops. 
  • This module explores how Positive Peace is a solution to many of the world’s social and economic problems. 
  • Learn about systems thinking and the eight pillars of Positive Peace.
